Happy Birthday to an inspiring woman who gifted many professionals, practitioners, families, and children, with an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children: the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). TBRI uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behavior.
KBF is grateful to have a TBRI Practitioner trained by the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development and thanks to Holt International for sending E.D. Glady JQ Bunao to this training last June 2022.
KBF has started integrating TBRI into its country programs; Domestic Adoption, Foster Care, Independent Living and Educational Assistance (ILEA), Child Nutrition Program, Family Strengthening, and even in our Social Work Mentoring.
We have lined up several sessions for our prospective adoptive parents, now adoptive parents, current and prospective foster parents, KBF social workers and program staff, social workers, and houseparents from our partners in the Philippines.
We will post more exciting updates on our TBRI journey!
Happy Birthday Dr. Karyn Purvis
